Michael Costello
Michael Costello is a CPG executive with 35 years experience in marketing, manufacturing, R&D and General Management.. He currently is an investor/advisor in various early-stage CPG companies across multiple categories where he coaches CEO/founders to improve their strategy and create clear action plans to achieve that strategy by helping them think through strategic options and provide foresight into what problems occur as they scale, including frameworks for better decision making.
His last position at Clorox was Senior Vice President of Renew Life and Nutranext which consisted of 7 smaller wellness focused brands newly acquired by Clorox. In that role he focused the business on e-commerce including hiring a new DTC team from the likes of Boxed.com, Sephora, plated and brandless. He focused the team on DTC, Amazon and online pickup -growing e-commerce enabled business to more than 50 % of sales from less than 20 %.
Michael’s success at Clorox was driven by ensuring his teams had a clear strategy, and action plan that could be measured and adjusted. He coached his teams on how to leverage their strengths. Seven of the current fourteen members of the Clorox Executive team reported to Michael at one point.
Michael enjoys learning new things, coaching people to be the best they can and spending time with family. Currently, Michael has 2 kids in college and one working in NYC.. When not with family or working on his cars, he spends his time coaching emerging brands. Some of those brands include Bellli Welli, a snack focused on IBS sufferers, Thrive Natural personal care, Tiesta Tea, GoodSam, Ready, Set Food an early allergen introduction product, and Fabalish a baked falafel and upcycled sauce brand among various other Better for You brands.
